From 19 to 21 May 2026, ESA BIC Brindisi took part in the ESA ScaleUp Commercialisation
Network Meeting, held in Seville. The event brought together more than 150
representatives from across ESA's commercialisation network — Business Incubation
Centres, Phi-Labs, Technology Brokers and Accelerators from across Europe.

The meeting was an occasion for operational and strategic exchange, centred on three
themes that ran consistently through the three days: collaboration, internationalisation, and
the urgency of building a sovereign European space commercialisation ecosystem. The
geopolitical context gave these themes a particular weight. As ESA's Head of ScaleUp
Division Philip Thomas noted: "The world as we know it has been changing radically in the
past year and that means huge changes for the space sector. We must apply strategic
focus now to build European capability" — while also warning against the risk of countries
and activities operating in isolation.
The discussions across the three days reinforced a shared sense of direction: the value of
the ESA ScaleUp network lies in its capacity to act collectively, connecting companies,
capabilities and investment across national and institutional boundaries. For the individual
startups that are part of it, this also means something more immediate — access to
credibility, visibility and relationships that are difficult to build independently at an early
stage.
For ESA BIC Brindisi, participation in Seville was an opportunity to strengthen connections
within this network and contribute to building a more integrated European innovation
ecosystem. Startups that join the programme in Brindisi gain access not only to local
technical and business support, but to a wider system of expertise and opportunities with a
genuinely European reach.
Startups and innovative teams developing space-based or space-enabled solutions are
welcome to apply to ESA BIC Brindisi. The next cut-off date is scheduled for Q4 2026.
Further details will be shared in due course.
Apply now to ESA BIC Brindisi and turn your space innovation into a market-ready
solution.
